The new album, Break The Chain album features 7 songs for 25 minutes of music and I love the cover, very 80s! A powerful riff and pounding drums start the title track, a heavy start with a catchy and robust chorus and an inspired solo section. A great choice as the opener. On My Own slows down the pace a little but it's another super catchy track, with a great chorus, reminding me of Def Leppard. I love the mood and the pace (and the pre-chorus!) of Killshot, with a killer guitar solo! If I have to choose my favourite song on the album, this will probably be my choice. You will find this one in my New music playlist, also (click on the link).
A very cool bass line opens Fool's anthem, this one almost New Metal, for some aspects. The riff (what a sound!) and the verse of The Run could have been taken from Slave to the Grind (Skid Row, of course), and the following Scream for More features a super solid rhythm section (I love the sound of the bass) and an old-school hard rock chorus (great work on the backing vocals on this one).
Chiefs of Speed is another fast-paced song (as the title suggests) that doesn't take prisoners and it will make you bang your head. The song features the usual inspired instrumental break (great drumming and tapping!). A perfect closure for a very cool album, no frills, fun to listen to, amazingly performed, and with a great sound as well, absolutely perfect for the genre.
I totally recommend Break The Chain, especially if you are an old-school Hard Rock fan (like me). It's an inspired album but with a modern production and with high testosterone. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow JJ Pinestone on social media.
