Awaiting Abigail - Falling Under

Formed in 2024 when Abigail Hill joined the project, “Awaiting Abigail” is, in part, a reunion of three high school classmates who were in bands together in the mid-to-late 90s: Heather, James, and Laurie. The remainder of Awaiting Abigail consists of a father-daughter combo of Mike and Kori Tolfa. 

“Falling Under” is taken from their December 2024 4-song EP, Bad Mind. The band states about the song: “Falling Under” is a post-grunge dark recap of a manipulative and dysfunctional relationship that has Abby starting with an angelic opening statement followed by her melodic verses and chorus.

The song opens with a sinister piano melody, followed by a massive guitar riff reminding me of Alice in Chains (what a sound!). The vocals are very inspired, catchy, clean, and energetic at the same time. I also like the rhythm section, very dynamic and always precise. The band's performance is spot on and I also like the song's structure, slim and straightforward. When the song ends you will be tempted to click play again.
