Slung - Collider

Brighton rock band Slung have released their new single ‘Collider’ (click for the YouTube link), which exemplifies Katie Oldham’s exceptional storytelling abilities. The track was originally worked on by bassist Vlad Matveikov with Zac Jackson of fellow Brighton band El Moono. “I kept most of Zac’s melodies as I really like the simplicity and drawn out syllables,” she says. “For the lyrics, I came up with a new narrative for this one based on the psych-infused nature of the tune. They tell the story of a cult who are ruled by a deity they refer to as the ‘ritual prophet’ and whom they converse with through the use of psychedelics.”

"Collider" will be featured on Slung's debut album "In Ways," scheduled for release on 2nd May. They have also announced an extensive UK tour in May to celebrate the full-length album. I love the grunge mood and the contrast between the verses and the vibrant chorus (what a sound!). It's a jump in my beloved 90s, the song is extremely catchy and interesting and amazingly performed by the band with a cool solo section as well. Give it a go and follow Slung on social media as well.
