Interview - Sate

Sate is a very interesting Canadian Blues rock band. Let's have a chat with them about their music.

Welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release Nobody.
Nobody is about standing in my strength, vulnerability and having the courage to always be my true self by leading from my heart. There have been many times in my life where I have felt passed over, worthless or invisible. I wrote this song to remind me that I have something that no one else can offer the world because it comes through me.

- How would you describe your sound?
gritty blues rock

- What do you write about?
I write about love and cosmic psychic shit, being a Goddess, reminding myself and others that we’re majickal Divine cosmic rockstar Warrior beings.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
It depends on my mood, it’s anywhere between meditation binaural tones to motivation talks to astrology tarot readings to whatever record I’m being called to listen to.

- Your favourite live performance so far?
Fishbone at The Masonic Temple in Toronto. Seeing them as a teenager left a huge mark on me, and gave me the permission that I needed to be as free, fearless, animated, raw and playful onstage as I wanted to be.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage
When I played AfroPunk in 2016 in Brooklyn, I had a wardrobe malfunction onstage where my nipple kept popping out of my bodysuit. Until finally after 2 or 3 times of nip slips, I just bared my chest and yelled to the crowd “Free the Nipple!”
