Leopard Rays are Luke Dawkins (vocals), Sean McCloskey (guitar), Tom Pattison (bass), and David Wilcox from Hartlepool (drums). The band has previously performed at Stockton Calling and the inaugural Heelapolooza and Gathering Sounds Festivals. They've also been featured on BBC Music Introducing, supported artists such as Pulled Apart By Horses and Estrons, and performed their own performances in Manchester, London, and Newcastle, as well as sold-out shows in their hometown, as they continue to grow musically and in popularity. Layers of dreamy guitars and rich reverb-drenched vocals combine a pop mindset with a love for a crunching riff when the mood strikes.
Something Like Hell is the follow-up to September’s Carried Away and December’s Curtain Call and marks something of a maturation as the track features strings for the first time as they dig deeper and deeper into blissful melodic discourse. 2020’s Time’s A Factor, Kid EP was four tracks of infectious riffs and twisting melodies.
McCloskey, who hails from Chicago, adds a customary American pancake to an otherwise conventional English meal. For lovers of other local luminaries such as Plaza and The Yada Yada Yadas, the alt. rock four-piece draws inspiration from Pearl Jam, Oasis, and Ride.
