Chris Leggett was born and reared in Richmond, Virginia, and is a writer and vocalist. After participating in a variety of bands, he released his first solo EP in 2017 on Mush Brain Records. The six lyric-driven songs are a mix of Rock and Americana with a twangy edge. Leggett teamed up with guitarist Matt Elgin and began performing at local and regional events, including opening for The Steeldrivers, Aaron Tippin, and The Wood Brothers.
In the spring of 2018, the band issued a follow-up EP titled Some Odd Years, and bassist Tucker Dean and drummer Dave Pierandri were recruited to the lineup in 2019. Leggett's solo effort became a full-fledged rock band when "Chris Leggett & the Copper Line" was created.
