Since bursting onto the scene in 2008 with his folky cover of ELO's "Do Ya" – which earned him praise from rock legend Jeff Lynne and was featured on Showtime's hit "Californication" – the multi-faceted artist Neil Nathan has mastered the art of genre bending record making, seamlessly transitioning from blistering rock to intimate ethereal folk.
Neil released his debut album, The Distance Calls, in Detroit Rock City, and was dubbed "the bastard stepchild of Jackson Browne and David Bowie" by UK music and film journal No Ripcord. It featured performers from Raconteurs, Queens of the Stone Age, The Go, King Tuff, and Detroit Cobras, and was produced by Garage Rock Hero Bobby Harlow (King Tuff, The Go). The album's single "California Run" was played live during San Francisco Giants games and was aired on ESPN and NHL Network. The song video included actress Rosario Dawson as a guest star.
This is his new single, called The Folly of War. The song has great guitars, a perfect production for the genre, great arrangements and very good lyrics. Also very good is the performance of Neil behind the microphone. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and don't forget to follow Neil Nathan on social media.
