JEHOVAH ON DEATH - Interview

- Hi and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release.
Greetings. ‘Heart of Guilt’, our most recent EP has just been released to the masses, along with ‘Let Me Die (And Die of Love)’ from the same album. The album focuses predominantly on saintly ecstasies and punishing oneself over the concept of “sin”. Additionally, ‘Heart of Guilt’ features a cover of Christian Death’s ‘Deathwish’ as this song perfectly conveys the aforementioned when in such a context.

- How would you describe your sound?
Blue Öyster Cult meets Devil’s Blood. ‘60s and ‘70s groove with blasphemous content. Recently, we moved into a more Spanish territory, with flamenco influences.

- What do you write about?
Punishment, pleasure, pain. Spreading our hymns of ecstasy to the congregation.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
‘Satanic Mass’ by Anton LaVey and sermons.

- Your favourite live performance so far?
We have yet to grace the stage, but this will soon change. Anyone willing, follow us on any platform to learn more.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
It’s always amusing when slip-ups occur during recording, especially in vocals, since it resembles speaking in tongues. A particularly humorous instance was during the recording of ‘Deathwish’, when the main voice was accidentally copied towards the end of the song, but we decided to keep it.

- Your favourite albums?

“The Thousandfold Epicentre” by The Devil’s Blood, “Jess and The Ancient Ones” by the titular band, “Angel's Necropolis” by Year of the Goat, and others.

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Erik Danielsson of ‘Watain’, since we admire him for his songwriting skills and stage presence.

- What are your plans for the near future?
The follow-up to ‘Heart of Guilt’ is being readied as we speak. More psalms and hymns are also being composed. We plan on performing live at the beginning of next year.
