Põhja Konn - Loobumislaul

Põhja Konn is an Estonian rock band, founded in 2009. After a hiatus in 2011, they were invited by the Estonian Writers’ Association in 2015 to set classic 20th-century Estonian poetry to rock music. Their debut album, "Põhja Konn," released in 2016, featured poems by Betti Alver and received nominations for Band of the Year, Debut Album, and Rock Album of the Year at the 2017 Estonian Music Awards.

In 2019, they released their second album, "Hetk. InSpereeritud Tüürist," in collaboration with the Estonian Cello Ensemble and choir Vox Clamantis. It won Rock Album and Band of the Year at the Estonian Music Awards and was also nominated for Album of the Year.

Loobumislaul is their new song, with a classy arrangement and very enjoyable from start to finish thanks to the spot-on performance by the band. The song reminds me of some Neal Morse material (a huge compliment) and it features amazing solo sections (what a sound!) and catchy vocals too. It's difficult to describe as it has lots of tasty details and a change of scenarios. The band is currently working on their third album, expected in 2025. Give it a go and follow the band on social media as well.
