Velvet Rouge, an indie rock trio, has released "Shattered" along with an accompanying music video off their self-titled EP, which will be released on July 26. Singer Zo initially won the hearts of millions on NBC's The Voice, when her natural talent and emotional depth pushed her to Team Blake! As she moved from the bright lights of television to the gruelling reality of the music industry, she rapidly realised that not everything was as spectacular as it appeared.
"The music industry can be incredibly tough, especially for women," Zo says. "There's a constant pressure to conform to certain standards, to fit into a mold that often emphasizes appearance over talent that screams unauthentic. The over-sexualization of women in the industry is something that needs to change, and that’s why 'Shattered' is so important to me.”
I love the video, amazingly made, as well as the song, fast paced, with inspired drumming, energetic guitars (what a sound!) and with catchy vocals. A very cool song, with a fantastic performance by the trio and a great production as well, perfect for the genre.
