Savannah Pope - Pandemonium (2024)

Savannah has recently emerged in the Rock and Pop scenes as a storm of vocal prowess, provocative lyrics, and bold visual style — sharing the stage with icons like Lzzy Hale and The Warning. She is now releasing her most personal effort to date, an album funded exclusively through Kickstarter by her devoted admirers. Savannah courageously fuses the raw intensity of 70s Glam with the grandeur of Neoclassical melodies and the pulse of current Pop on tunes ranging from Melancholic Goddess and Freeway to baroque think pieces like the album's eponymous lead single. The new album, Pandemonium, is a statement of survival, an artistic struggle against silence. Savannah tackles her demons on this album and allows her listeners to do the same, resulting in a shared space of profound introspection.

The album is comprised of 11 tracks and it opens (after a piano intro) with the title track, starting with amazing vocal lines, very theatrical and inspired, exploding after a couple of minutes in atmospheres between Queen and Angra. This is a fantastic opener, very inspired and full of tasty details. Just Another Day follows, this one more relaxed and with a great arrangement. Freeway is upbeat, radio-friendly, and with a contagious mood. This was released as a single and it's a great choice. Speaking of singles, Sick was just released and it's another very interesting track, reminding me of early Queen in terms of versatility and also in terms of guitar parts (and its sound).

Among other songs, I really liked the classic rock mood of Orchid, more simple and straightforward than the average on the album, then the drums, the huge riff, and the energy of Big Black Hole (this one reminding me of Soundgarden!), one of my favourites of the album. The blues mood at the beginning of Slice of Life (what a vocal performance!) and the last track Live Your Strange, calm but intense at the same time, catchy and with the usual great performance and arrangement.

Pandemonium is a quality release from every point of view. The album is amazingly written, performed, produced and arranged. It's also various, full of details, and features fantastic vocals by Savannah. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow Savannah on social media.
