Noah Smith - Cavaliers into Cadillacs (2024)

Noah Smith isn't attempting to fit into anyone's box. He's combining country and rock in a way that seems familiar and fresh. This is his new Album, Cavaliers into Cadillacs, released today. Smith didn't go it alone with this EP. He enlisted the help of songwriters Blue Foley, Sinead Burgess, and Brock Butler. The result is a diverse collection of genres and storylines.

The work comprised 6 songs for 21 minutes of music. Don't Break My Fall is the opener, the mood is very relaxed (what a classy rhythm section!) and it's a great start because of its crescendo and quality vocals. Skinny Pedal on the Right is more of a classic Country song, with a fantastic arrangement and a very catchy chorus. Of Secondhand Heartbreak I like the melancholy mood and the energetic finale (great vocals!).

Right Here with You features a pure rock chorus and the usual classy arrangement with lots of quality details (I love the bass lines, for instance). If I have to choose my favourite track on the EP, it would probably be this one (but the choice is quite difficult as all the tracks on the EP are quality). How The Hell I'm Still Alive features meaningful and intense vocals (and an anthemic chorus) and a fantastic solo section, while the last Diamond in the Rough is another very dynamic track, growing in intensity, a perfect closure for a very inspired work.

Cavaliers into Cadillacs is a quality release from every point of view (performance, production and arrangement) and it's very enjoyable from start to finish, thanks to a very dynamic songwriting and lots of quality details.
