The Cumberland River Project - When The Wind Picks Up

Frank Renfordt has released two albums, an EP, and various singles under "The Cumberland River Project," gaining a global fanbase on streaming platforms, social media, and radio stations. Known for his catchy storytelling songs, he reached the finale of the prestigious UK Songwriting Contest and received the "Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting" award at the Great American Song Contest. His second album, "A Smell of Gravy," was awarded Best Country Album at the German Rock & Pop Awards.

The artist on his new song When The Wind Picks Up: "When my daughter Megan announced that she was getting married soon, I recklessly promised to write a song for her wedding and perform it at the reception. No sooner said than done! So this is kind of a wedding song. I knew straight away that this song needed a bit more than an acoustic guitar to really rock, so after the wedding I started to produce it with a full band line-up. I had great help from Easton Driver (vocals), Andrew Timothy (guitars) and my friend Simon Röll (drums)."

I love the mood of the song, very enjoyable from start to finish, thanks to meaningful lyrics, great vocals and a great sound. When The Wind Picks Up also features very inspired guitars, folk-country during the verses becoming pure rock during the chorus. A quality, eclectic and deep song, amazingly written, performed, arranged and produced.
