Best songs of 2024

Ok, it's that time of the year when I write a couple of top 10 about my favourite songs and albums.
Here's the one about songs, it wasn't easy as I had to choose from a list of 50, (which is already a strong selection).

10) Bon Jovi - Waves
Uh, a Bon Jovi song in my top 10? Yes, despite the fact I didn't like the latest album Foverer (click for the review), I really like this one, maybe a little too much. Is it only me?

9) John 5 - A Hollywood Story
A fantastic instrumental track by a guitar player you probably heard in lots of bands and projects (Marylin Manson is probably the most famous). A Hollywood Story is melodic, technical and very catchy at the same time. I love this one and I listened to it a million times.

8) The Dead Daisies - Love That'll Never be
A 90s ballad by The Dead Daisies, with a great interpretation by John Corabi, reminding me of Drift Away, the last track of the Motley Crue album he recorded. That's the only album I like by the band (as I don't like Vince Neil).

7) Black Country Communion - Restless
Another old-style ballad? Yes. I haven't heard many good ballads in the last few years so I'm taking advantage now that I can. When you have the blues vibes of Joe Bonamassa and the amazing voice of Glen Hughes I don't think you can ask for more.

6) Pearl Jam - Scared of Fear
I really liked part of the new Pearl Jam album (mainly the first half) and this song is probably my favourite. I've listened to it a million times even because is at the top of my Best of 2024 playlist.

5) Judas Priest - Trial By Fire
Ok, after all the ballads above (but I'm not done yet!), it's better to change the mood a little with this punch on your face. Judas Priest, ladies and gentlemen. Old but heavy as...
You will find the album Invincible Shield in the next top 10, about the best albums. Stay tuned, in the meantime, click play if you missed this song (or if you want to enjoy it once more!)

4) Scott Stapp - What I deserve
Ok, another one. Scott Stapps knows how to make good ballads. With Creed, Art of Anarchy, and his solo albums (his latest album is full of them). A super catchy one, simple and very old school.

3) Soul Asylum - High & Dry
This is the last power ballad, I promise! I've always been a fan of Dave Pirner and Soul Asylum, and to me, this is probably their best song in the last 10 years or so. A lot of class, melody, and a rough sound. What do you want more?

2) Lords of Black - I Want Darkness to stop
Not a super famous band, but there is Ronnie Romero in it. I hope you know him as he's a great singer. Anyhow, I was stunned when I first listened to this first epic single. I love this song to bits and I hoped the album was on the same page, but it wasn't, unfortunately for me. But you have to listen to this one.

1) Bear McCreary (Feat. Corey Taylor) - Leviathan
Ok, probably you don't know this one by Bear McCreary (a famous composer for lots of TV shows and video games too), and his album is full of important guests. Leviathan features a fantastic Corey Taylor and a super adrenaline-filled chorus, that never leaves me indifferent every single time I click on this track. Listen to it and thank me later.
