The songwriter expressed a fierce satisfaction in completing an album that genuinely reflects his journey of mental health recovery and trauma healing. Waking up at 4am everyday in fear within a challenging season of life, and each day finding courage to complete music, heal and be there in service of others is what is woven into the songs. That’s why it’s such a meaningful accomplishment. It only took a decade or two.
SunBlinded is comprised of 6 tracks for 25 minutes of music and will be available from March 2025. The opener All the Way Us opens with a good pace and great drumming. I love the mood of the song and it's definitely a great choice as an opener, with inspired vocals and an elaborate arrangement, almost prog in some parts. The second track Nowhere's End follows with heavy and inspired riffs (and solos!) and the usual energy on the drums and some very cool grungy vocal lines, reminding me of Alice in Chains. Vila features a super catchy chorus, technical and melodic guitar solo, and the usual quality in details and arrangement.
A little different is track number four, Love and Fear, an old-style relaxing ballad with arpeggios and great vocals. The solo sections and the atmosphere in general, remind me of Dream Theater. Another great track. Cruelly Awake is a slap in the face, coming after a softish track, very aggressive and fast, with spectacular drumming and very intense vocals. The title track has a weird intro and it's overall more experimental and a little different, compared to what we've heard so far. A very different but overall very interesting track, almost disco and pop for some aspects (but with the usual heavy sound).
