LSZ - Hybride Électrique (2025)

Hybride Électrique marks the debut album of LSZ, an entirely instrumental guitar creation infused with electronic elements. It draws inspiration from various influences, including classical music, jazz, and heavy metal. The electric guitar remains the centerpiece throughout, delivering simple yet evocative melodies enriched by complex harmonies and occasional shredding. The album represents a deeply personal endeavor, crafted using minimal tools: just a guitar, a pedalboard, and a groovebox.

Hybride Électrique was released at the end of February, and its total length is almost 44 minutes. Révélation opens the album with a peculiar combination of electronic mixed with a melodic electric guitar. The song becomes more and more intricate (it got some Joe Satriani vibes), and it evolves constantly. A great start! More melodic is the following track, Nostalgie, melancholy but with some punch as well. I love the guitar lines on this one, as you can almost sing them. This is probably my favourite track on the album, if I have to choose one. Euréka has a dark start, but it brightens up in the middle with some fantastic happy lines (I love the acceleration at 3.10).

Yeah! changes the scenario again, more relaxed and jazzy, infused with electronic lines, while Ensemble has again some Joe Satriani vibes, fused with some Christmas vibes (don't ask me why), and a fantastic tapping in the final part of the song. Dopamine, as the title suggests, is heavier, and I hear some John Petrucci influence on this one, before the melodic break, in the middle of the song. Among other songs, I love the relaxed vibes of Au Revoir and Libre, the super dark riffs of Ailleurs (fantastic song!), and the happy vibes of the final song, Orange. becoming more and more intricate, toward the end.

Hybride Électrique is a quality release, amazingly performed and produced, and also very original in lots of parts. The artist has a top-notch technique, but the album relies a lot on melody and a well-built song rather than a pure showcase of qualities. A great debut album, totally recommend if you are a fan of instrumental music and guitars. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below, and remember to follow LSZ on Instagram.
