If there’s one thing The Dirty Nil won’t do, it’s let anyone tell them how to rock. After the over-polished process of Fuck Art, the Juno-winning trio went back to basics—thrashy riffs, full-volume chaos, and zero outside interference. Free Rein to Passions is raw, loud, and full of heart, a love letter to the basement-jam energy that started it all. With new bassist Sam Tomlinson on board and longtime producer John Goodmanson at the helm, the band delivers no-nonsense tracks about work, guitars, and just being a decent human. It's rock ‘n’ roll, pure and simple—with a firecracker in its back pocket.
Their fifth studio album, The Lash, will be released July 25th via Dine Alone Records and is available for pre-order now/ Above is the new single “Gallop of the Hounds”, setting the pace for The Lash. I love the riffs (the guitars sound fantastic!) and the vocal lines, energetic and catchy, with a super solid rhythm section at the back. Overall, a quality song, amazingly performed by the band, and enjoyable from start to finish.
